Tibetan Meditation Retreat led by Losang Samten

Sale Price:CA$330.00 Original Price:CA$360.00

The Venerable Lama Losang Samten holds a Buddhist Meditation Retreat in Winnipeg each year. The retreat includes meditation, Tibetan Buddhist teachings, mantra recitation and traditional Buddhist prayers and healing practices. Lama Losang Samten will lead us through Tibetan meditation practices that include preliminary prayers, visualization, meaningful stories and silent meditation.

The theme of this year’s meditation retreat is “The Path to Happiness”. The retreat will emphasize shamatha (silent meditation) and encourage silence. During meals and breaks we will strive to be silent. Silent sitting shamatha is very important for all of us. It gives us time to reflect and to listen to ourselves. There is so much happening in the world and in our individual lives and it is energizing and renewing to spend some time with ourselves.

The Venerable Lama Losang Samten was born in Ribuce, Tibet (1953) and escaped to India when he was a boy of six.  He entered Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, India, the monastery of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, where he received his Master of Buddhist Sutra and Tantra Degree in 1985.  Lama Losang Samten has served as personal attendant to The Dalai Lama from 1985-1988.  He now lives in Philadelphia and has been founder and Spiritual Director of several Tibetan Buddhist Centers.

For our out of town residents there is the Holiday Inn, 360 Colony Street that is across the street from the University of Winnipeg.

Register by September 4th for the early bird rate (sliding scale available upon request). Proceeds of this retreat support Losang Samten in his charitable work.
